Laurel's birthday and Health Update
Laurel turned 13 years old on October 2nd, so we officially have two teenagers in the house. Which so far hasn't been all that bad. We are so grateful to Laurel and the joy she brings to our family. She has a very tender heart and cares deeply for any living thing around her. She has weathered her year long illness well and has learned a great deal througt the process. She is a great daughter, sister and friend.
Recently she was able to travel to the States with Terry for a week. She spent a week in Spokane while Terry attended a 2x3 campaign in Portland and Seattle. During her time she was able to see much of our family and got quality time with them. She was also able to attend a few youth functions and was very encouraged by the body of believers there.
We sent her to the states to see an ENT. We needed a second opinion on what we were hearing here since she is sick again this year. The diagnosis is the same, (moderate sinusitis, last year it was cronic) but the treatment is a bit different. We have started her on sinus rinses which have kept her free of infection, and if she remains sick most of the winter, next summer, during our furlough, she will have her sinuses surgically cleaned out, which is what we anticipate happening. She is not looking forward to it, but the doctor in Spokane really feels that she would benefit from this procedure. The doctor believes that mold and air pollution are the major contributors, as we have eliminated allergies. We will be getting some high powered air filters in December to try to help her with this when she is at home.
Thank you to all who gave to us financially to help with Laurel's medical expenses and to Valley Fourth Memorial for giving her the ticket home. She benefited physically and spiritually from the trip.
