Spring?

I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but here, it feels like spring. The buds on the trees are even blooming; the new leaves are beginning to appear. And the spring flowers are beginning to appear on the girls’ school playground.

We are enjoying the Jr High ministry. We have been meeting at our at least once a month as a large group (boys and girls together) and Terry has had a few late night computer game bashes with the boys, and this last week, the girls enjoyed an evening eating tacos, playing games, playing “dance-praise”, and watching a movie. Many of these kids are kids from Meagan’s class, and from the Jr High English camp. They are beginning to bond as a group, which has been our goal this fall and winter. Many of these kids have no reference point for having community in a group. And they are quickly headed to spending their weekends partying.

These nights also include getting a glimpse into the parents’ hearts as well. One mom shared with me how fast her daughter is growing up. Her daughter is the life of the party, and a pleasure to have around. Her mom told me her daughter would just love to live at our home if she could. While that was nice to hear, it also made me sad for her mother. As a single mom, trying to provide all her daughter needs, she is watching her daughter grow up and feels as if she is loosing her. I pray that this young girl will come to know Jesus, and that she will have even more to offer her mom instead of less.

As the weather is “spring time”, our ministry is in the midst of our winter events. This past Saturday, we had our JR High group “SNOW DAY”, at the best sledding run in the country, the bowling alley. (Remember the scene in White Christmas where they get off of the train in Vermont and it is so warm?)

Terry is also very busily preparing for “summer”, and the 50+ English camps that Josiah Venture will be hosting. The theme for this year is “Underground” focusing on recognizing the “underground” things in our lives and bringing them to the surface. Much like coming up from out of a subway. Pray him as he has a large responsibility in preparing these camps and training the interns that will be running camps in 10 different countries during the summer.

Please continue to pray for the needed finance for our van. The Lord has provided 90% of what we need to make a purchase. Thank you to all of you who have given to that need. We are grateful.
