One of the most often asked questions we hear is "How's Laurel?". At the end of the school year we really struggled with the decision of whether to take her to the States to see a doctor. Her sinuses were still full and she had headaches, although her illnesses were less frequent. We decided to wait and see what the summer brought. Since being out of school, she has been feeling much better....hmmm, curious. Her sinuses are not full and she does not complain of headaches. We will wait and see what the fall brings and her going back to school. The school building is old and there is a mold issue in some of the rooms. We will see. If she continues to have problems in the fall, we will take her to the States then.
We have recently learned that 90% of chronic sinusitis is caused from fungus and not from a bacteria. Which is also curious.
Despite being out of school for 5 of the 10 months, Laurel ended the year with and "A" average, which is completely to her credit as she had to home school herself. She did well and we are very proud of how she has handled this last year with grace and acceptance.
