Time to brag...a little

Parents are entitled to some bragging rights, aren't they? I believe in taking my rights to the limit. I'm a child of entitlement. (All depends on whose children we are doesn't it.) Well, I don't know where my kids received their genes (must be grandparents), but they are excelling.

Disclaimer: I love my kids whether they make A's or F's, play the piano or the radio (like their dad). But I sure am proud of how diligently they study and practice. They are learning perseverance, patience, joy and more and I'm proud of them for it It's not always easy being a kid.

I almost hesitate to list her achievements because it will be outdated as soon as a write it down, but I'll try:-) This Meagan has received honorable mention in a physics competition, a silver medal in chemistry and on Wednesday completes in the National Math and Logic competition (after taking second at her school). Oh, and first at her school in a lace competition so she will continue to nationals. She is applying to a Catholic private high school which has the highest entry requirements. I have had the "opportunity" of going to dance class with her (and 100 other 9th graders) for the last 8 weeks. I have observed her gentle quiet spirit try to help a friend out of an uncomfortable situation and try to make her dad (awkward) more comfortable.

In the midst of battling health issues (which she is still doing) Laurel has maintained an A average at school and completed her work on her own initiative. After missing most of orchestra practice for half a year, she finds out next week if she can participate in an orchestra competition. The teacher praised her in front of her class for her hard work and dedication; she also spent an extra hour helping Laurel with her songs. She admitted that she had never done this before. Laurel has that affect on people - she brings out the best in you making you want to do things you've never done before.

Thankfully, there aren't as many competitions and such in 5th grade. She did take 5th in her grade on a Math and Logic test and her comment was, "Why do only the first 4 places get awards?" She is excelling on the saxophone and has had about 5 recitals/performances even playing live in downtown Ljubljana. Her teacher continues to push/encourage her to perfection because as he says, "She's talented." She loves drama, roller skating and generally having fun. Her request for something from America was a book that explains more about God and the Bible.

Not that I'm anxious for this future day to arrive, but three guys are going to get three great wives. (Figured it would be the last time it would be appropriate to make this statement for awhile:-)
